Resumen

El documental español 14 kilómetros (2007) de Gerardo Olivares se enfoca en la inmigración subsahariana hacia Europa de forma única al centrarse en el viaje hasta cruzar el estrecho de Gibraltar, en vez de en la aculturación una vez en el país receptor. Este artículo desvela cómo las sociedades occidentales desconocen la dureza del éxodo migratorio y descubre la necesidad de la presentación completa del proceso para alcanzar una convivencia cordial.

 

Abstract

 

Spanish documentary 14 kilómetros (2007) by Gerardo Olivares sheds light on the Subharian immigration to Europe focusing, in an uniquely way, on the journey up to the Gibraltar Straight, instead of the assimilation to the culture of the arrival country. This article unveils how Western societies ignore the harshness of the migrating exodus and exposes the need of presenting the whole process in order to achieve cordial coexistence.
