Durante el período prolongado de investigaciones, que Walter Lehmann pasó en América Central (1907 a 1909), éste logró reunir en Costa Rica cuentos sobre animales cuyos protagonistas son el conejo y el coyote. El conocimiento de estas fábulas relatadas en español, que muchas veces muestran un carácter etiológico, se difundía en especial por medio de narradores dotados durante los "rezos" en las fiestas de los santos patronos. Los manuscritos de Lehmann se encuentran en la Biblioteca Lehmann del Instituto Ibero-Americano de la Fundación " Patrimonio Cultural Prusiano" (Signatura: Y 3179; 12).Downloads
