Los Nueve Señores de la Noche del Códice Borgia 14 deben ser interpretados como equivalencias de los navagraha, la serie hindú de planetas. El sistema fue elaborado ingeniosamente de acuerdo con las reglas de un simbolismo numérico (gematría), con observaciones astronómicas correspondientes a un modelo esférico del Viejo Mundo y con valorizaciones mánticas, arraigadas en el área cultural hindú. La conexión de los Señores de la Noche del antiguo México con deidades del hinduismo se logra gracias a referencias de fuentes literarias en sánscrito (esencialmente Purānas). Con esto se ha ganado un valioso elemento para futuros estudios "indo - mexicanistas".Downloads
