La obra fotográfica de Teobert Maler en la Península de Yucatán

El material fotográfico de T. Maler es de incalculable valor para los estudios arqueológicos de América y en particular del área maya, se halla actualmente disperso en varios países. En la ciudad de Mérida, capital del Estado mexicano de Yucatán, se encuentran 189 positivos de este investigador que corresponden a 56 sitios precolombinos, y la gran mayoría de ellos corresponden al suroeste de Yucatán. En el presente ensayo se hace un análisis de este material, clasificando los sitios explorados y el número de fotos de cada uno de ellos. Otro aspecto interesante es el hallazgo de algunos de sus planos y varias cartas manuscritas inéditas.Downloads
