La existencia de una legislación hondamente arraigada fue el factor principal que impidió la presencia de nuevas ideas urbanísticas en Guatemala, persistiendo en el siglo XVIII los modelos del siglo XVI. Es posible que también hayan contribuido la inexperiencia de los arquitectos en ese campo y la participación de funcionarios y organismos oficiales (alcaldes mayores ), simplemente vigilantes de que se aplicara la ley.Downloads
