Die "Pastores de la Candelaria" in La Punta (Mérida, Venezuela)

La Fiesta de los Pastores se celebra todos los años en el día de la Candelaria en el pueblo de La Punta (Mérida). Los miembros de la cofradía organizadora son mestizos. Se trata de un antiguo ritual asociado al ciclo agrario, que los indios nativos de esta región suelen celebrar antes de la siembra y conocido bajo el nombre "Bajada del Ches" . Este rito se amalgamó a una leyenda cristiana acerca de la aparición de la Virgen de origen colonial. Los bailes ejecutados delante de la iglesia imitan las diferentes faenas agrícolas.Downloads
