Mapa y Descripción de la Montaña del Petén e Ytzá. Interpretación de un documento de los años poco después de la conquista de Tayasal

Un documento del Archivo General de Indias en Sevilla describe la estructura política del Petén central poco después de la conquista española de Tayasal y de la deportación de Canek, rey de los Itzáes. Según consta en este documento, que la investigación hasta la fecha ha pasado por alto, hubo allí cinco naciones, a saber: Chumaxau, El Chan, Los Mopanes, El Tute y Los Coboxes. Aunque el mapa que acompañaba el documento no se ha conservado, es posible reconstruir los territorios de estos grupos, gracias a las indicaciones escritas.Downloads
