Women and Maya: Their different expressions. This text provides an overview on Maya women’s groups from Guatemala. It shows the importance that the political context of the 1980´s Violence and the peace process had for their developments, and how they have located themselves among their political engagement and activism, the fact of being women as well as Mayan. This essay deals with their different backgrounds, speeches, activities and demands. It also highlights their efforts to dismantle the stereotypes set by a strict Guatemalan ideological system, and how they are struggling to create their own path as Maya women.Downloads
