The introductory notes describe the contents of this dossier, which delineates the interwovenness of theoretical discussions of essential problems with some fresh perspectives on fieldwork within the present-day Americanist anthropology of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries. Indigenous points of view – both conceptual and reflexive – as a point of departure; multidisciplinary, dialectic and dialogue-oriented approaches; processes relating to identity; the ‘hybridity’ of cultures; and the central normative role of key objects in societies/cultures are basic themes of the contributions brought together here.Downloads
