Abstract

This work describes the results of a research project on the role that indigenous women play in public policies for development. The indigenous woman is an indispensable figure, at least in the discourse, in institutional policies aimed at poverty reduction, as much at the international level as in the social, national and state policies in México. This research carried out in central Mexico, where the Mazahua indigenous group lives, has shown that that the gender perspective in the institutions and projects for development directed at the women of this ethnic group presents serious bias and deficiencies, associated with the masculinized structures of the bureaucracy, that did not permit the Productive Projects for Women program to reach the marginal communities of the northeast of the State of Mexico.
