The aim of this article is to present a methodology applied to an intergroup conflict case study. Focused on the case of West Mexico.s wixaritari (huichol) and mestizo ranchers case, it proposes a systematization of the multiple factors which influence the historical development of an old conflict. It uses a heuristic analytical framework, which goes beyond those methods that are limited to the study of current phenomena, such as rational choice theory or games theory. The scientific study of intergroup conflicts demands a profound analysis of history and of the systems of relationships that have been brought about by the agents involved.Downloads
