This paper analyzes the notions of body and person through ethnography among the Toba people of the Gran Chaco in conjunction with the attributes of body and person in other indigenous societies. The analysis begins with the collective nature of the body and its non-naturality and continues to describe other beings that are conceived as persons. It also addresses the importance of non-human agency in the formation of human bodies. Finally, the paper explores the permeability of bodies and potential interconnection between them due to the circulation of emotions.Downloads
