Resumo

Starting with the investigation of some 160 lunar series of Maya stelae inscriptions the author shows that all data of the lunar series refer to the current day or month. Apart from that this paper offers a complete discussion of the Maya supplementary series (lunar series plus day-counts of 7, 9, and 819 days), together with a demonstration in which way the supplementary series is rooted in Maya mythology. Also the universal importance of the starting day (zero day 13 August 3114 BC) of the Maya chronology is demonstrated. The hieroglyphs of the 18 X-glyphs are shown for the first time. Included is a discussion of the correlation problem.
