Abstract

Liberation theology is a theological current born within the Latin American Christian churches and in the context of the Cold War, was persecuted by the Latin American dictatorships, accused of communist. The aim of this study is to see the impact of this theory in leading scientific journals in the world indexed in Web of Science. This allows us to observe, through a case, the level of access of Latin American innovative thinking to global science communicators. It is a documentary research based on content analysis. Lead authors, magazines, institutions, areas of expertise, most represented countries, dating behavior and relationships between authors and institutions were identified.

Professor do Departamento de Ciência da Informação, Univ. Fed. de Santa Catarina (Brasil). Editor da revista Encontros Bibli. Graduado em Biblioteconomia (PUC-Campinas, 2000), Mestre em Ciência da Informação (PUC-Campinas, 2004) e Doutor em Documentação (UCIII-Madrid, 2007).

Especialista em Ciência da Informação: Representação, Visualização e Organização. Autor de mais de 200 estudos científicos.

Alejandro Paredes

Investigador Adjunto de Conicet (Argentina). Director del Centro de Estudios Trasandinos y Latinoamericanos y Profesor de Historia Social Argentina II en la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (Mendoza, Argentina). Licenciado en Sociología (Univ. Nac. de Cuyo) y Doctor en Historia (Univ. Nac. de La Plata). Especialista en redes político-religiosas latinoamericanas.

Exequiel Fontáns

Profesor Ayudante de Organización del Conocimiento II (FIC-UdelaR). Licenciado en Bibliotecología Univ. de la República, Uruguay. Maestrando en Información y Comunicación (UdelaR), becario de la CSIC, UdelaR. Su área de investigación son los Estudios métricos de la información. Participa en proyectos de investigación sobre ese tema.
