Abstract

In a short period, Brazil fell from a country on a global rise to one in a severe economic and political crisis. The most apparent consequence of such a crisis was the rise of Bolsonarismo, a reactionary, anti-establishment political ideology led by the current president. In addition to its major impact on the catastrophic response to the Covid 19 pandemic, Bolsonarismo has considerably impacted and modified the various facets of the Brazilian political landscape. The four articles in this Foro analyses the political impact of this ideology on different current issues in the country, covering: personalism and the political trajectory of the president; the ruptures in foreign policy; armament ideology; and police violence in the favelas.
