Abstract
The article wants to show two things: first, display the reception of Gide in Mexico from the first accounts and portrayals of the French, something that has included not yet properly; the second is show how his work El regreso del hijo pródigo, came to conform to the interest of the so called Contemporáneos for the characters travelers, inherited affinity of the Ateneo Mexican members. The reading of Gide, meaning giving different travellers, each member of the Contemporáneos shows, from the beginning, there was not a coincidence between the members of group, but precisely a rupture that will be expanded over time.
