International book fairs (IBF) are places of cultural stage setting that portray a unified and structured international translation market and a hierarchical transnational place with struggles for domination. The Guest of Honour (GH) plays an important role in them. This paper endeavours to model the GH through a historical overview in several IBFs and the contrast of two peripheral cultures in the World System of Translation (Spain and Portugal) as GH in four editions separated by two decades.
