The diversity of children’s realities in Latin America is wide-ranging, but if there is something that regretfully repeats itself within such variety, is the violation of rights that many children face. Most of the countries in the region have been subscribed to the Convention on the Rights of the Child for decades, however, the same region still holds high numbers of child labour, commercial sexual exploitation of children, human trafficking, domestic violence, among other serious rights violations. In this collection of articles, we want to briefly explore the reality of these children’s rights violations in the region. In particular, we seek to identify the pending challenges, specifically, with regards to child labour and migration, children civic involvement, and adoption. We intend to contribute to make them visible, and to foster less adult-centric approaches to face them.
