Through Chitty’s notion of monetization of sodomy, this article aims to propose a new concept, the monetization of the repression of homosexuality, as “the persecution, blackmail, or extortion of homosexuals by people other than the police, to collect money for themselves”. We want to show this monetization of repression in the Iberian dictatorships, starting from the case of the “arrebentas” of Lisbon and the “curraores de pajos” of Seville.
