Resumo
O ensaio analisa a representação feminina em nove retratos fotográficos produzidos entre o final do século XIX e início do XX. Demonstra-se que convenções internacionalmente adotadas, tais como a pose em busca da representação de dignidade, nem sempre foram observadas no Brasil, devido às singularidades socioculturais da sua história.
Abstract
The essay analyzes the representations of women in nine photographic portraits made in the late 19th and early 20th. It is proposed that internationally adopted conventions such as the pose as representing dignity, not been used in some circumstances because of the social and cultural peculiarities of Brazilian history.
