The zoonymy concerning invertebrates among the Qom people of western Formosa (Argentina) is examined in this study. Conflicts arising from the divergence between Qom modes of classification and the academic classificatory system are analyzed. The primary basis for this research lies in fieldwork, encompassing interviews and the collection of biological materials. The Qom names for the fauna, including ethnospecies and ethnovarieties, are presented. This includes translations of the names, ethnovariety classification criteria, taxonomic positions, and any homonyms. The study also documents aspects of zoonymy related to the interpretation of polymorphisms, metamorphoses, life cycles, by-products, and sessile modes of life. Finally, a diverse array of strategies for naming and classifying invertebrates is highlighted.
